Wheelchair Ramps

Wheelchair Ramp Sonoma Marin

Barriers to living come in many sizes. What one person can easily walk over, another finds it either difficult or impossible to maneuver. We at JONATHAN’S SON, INC. believe everyone should be able to live in a barrier free environment that allows one to freely move from one area of the home to another. Whether it be inside or outside the home, we can help find solutions for accessibility.

Ramp considerations:

Trips and falls are the leading cause of unintentional death among people age 65 and over (National Safety Council Report, 2005). Last year, there were over 1.8 million emergency room visits for fall injuries for people over age 65. It is estimated that there are over 13 million slip-trip-fall injuries in the United States each year (National Safety Council Report, 2005).The fastest growing population in the United States are people over the age of 65. That number is expected to double from 35.1 million to 75 million by 2025 (US Census Bureau). This population continues to live longer in their homes which often requires "barrier free" design modification.

There are many types of ramps available. Jonathan’s Son, Inc provides either custom or manufactured ramps for their clients. Contact us for a free home evaluation to help you determine what type of ramp will best suit your needs.

Composite Ramps

Jonathan’s Son, Inc will often create a custom ramp for our clients. These are ascetically pleasing to the eye, durable with very little maintenance, and very safe. ADA recommendations are to provide 12 inches of ramp for every one inch of rise. Though these requirements are designed for public places, Jonathan’s Son, Inc. designs their ramps with this standard for the safety of all who will use it. There are basically three types that are often suggested: Composite Ramps, Concrete ramps or Steel ramps. Made with pressure treated underpinnings, composite decking material and redwood or composite bumper guards. We use either a SafePath™ Threshold ramp or steel ramp at the bottom. If handrails or guardrails are needed they can be added in whatever style the client chooses.

EZ-Access Portable and Modular Ramps

Jonathan’s Son, Inc can also provide EZ-ACCESS® portable ramps or EZ-ACCESS Modular ramp systems for their clients. The lightweight, compact, and versatile ramp designs help to make barriers against independence and accessibility a thing of the past. Part of our service is to help our clients decide which ramps are their best option.

SafePath Threshold Ramps

EZ Edge™ Ramp Transitions

JONATHAN’S SON, INC. will often recommend SafePath™ Products' EZ Edge™ Transition Ramp to eliminate vertical barriers between ½” to 3”. Made of rubber, they look great, have superior slip resistance and are guaranteed for exterior use. They are ADA compliant, very quiet and are significantly less expensive than aluminum or cement.

EZ Edge™ Transition Ramps are often used for door threshold modifications, roll-in shower transitions, gymnasium flooring, expandable bridge nosing, path of travel transitions or any application requiring vertical modification.

Other Types of Ramps

Concrete Ramps

Today’s concrete can both beautiful and stylish. Whether the client wants a straight standard concrete ramp to their door or a stamped curved ramp, we can make it happen!

Steel Diamond-Plated Ramps

Jonathan’s Son has often installed steel diamond-plated ramps that have 2 inch bumper guards integrated in its design. These work well for a rental home or apartment. They have also been used in garages. We always paint the ramps to protect them from rust and give them a finished look.
